The new Kaybiang Tunnel in Maragondon, Cavite

If it was not the headline in Philippine Daily Inquirer in 2013 I would not have known Kaybiang Tunnel.  I was hooked reading the article that tackled the opening of the 300-meter tunnel, part of the 6-kilometer road that connects Ternate to Nasugbu, Batangas. Impressive right?

The newest attraction in Cavite, the Kaybiang Tunnel shorten time trip for at least one hour in getting to Nasugbu, Batangas

We were on our way to the hilly mountain of Ternate for a beach getaway in Katungkulan Beach Resort (former Boracay de Cavite) when my hubby saw the sign “To Kaybiang Tunnel.”  It drew the adrenaline rush while I tell them what this Tunnel is all about. I coerced them to stop there for a while but we didn’t because we were on our way to the marine camp.

Have to stop a while before we head on to Patungan Cove

Unfortunately, Katungkulan Beach Resort was temporarily closed by morning because of the graduation ceremony of the marine students. We can’t wait for the 1:00 pm opening so we opted to go to Nasugbu in Batangas. There were bikers at the entrance gate who mentioned Patungan Beach Resort in Maragondon. With short instructions on how to get there, we hastily head off to the said resort excitedly. And what thrilled me more, we will pass by the new Kaybiang Tunnel. Yehey!

People will surely stop for picture taking in the Tunnel

Kaybiang Tunnel is the new Ternate-Nasugbu Road in Maragondon, Cavite. Currently, it is now the country’s longest underground tunnel. President Aquino was impressed by this new project which will cut travel time to the resorts of Nasugbu by at least an hour and will further boost tourism in Cavite and Batangas.

When we reached the Tunnel there were several vehicles parked beside the main road. There were lots of people busy taking pictures while the others went up through the stone ladder and walked around. There was the grotto of the Virgin Mary on top. We didn’t go up, we just walked a little and have some decent shots.

inside the tunnel

When we passed by inside the tunnel, my hubby took fun in blowing the horn loudly and we were all screaming like a mad dog!  What a fun way to do this crazy thing! Hahaha!

It's getting hot in here but there was no crowd when we had our picture taking

And soon a picturesque sea view of Nasugbu, Batangas astonished us all. Here is the picture that will blow your stress away!

The picturesque sea view along the main road

We parked our van beside the road and hopped out.  And the next best thing to do is, a happy photoshoot! The vast expanse of the blue sea was so spectacular to watch for. Fort of Corregidor and Caraballo Islands can be seen from a distance.

Shen was amazed by the beautiful view and had her own photo in her tablet

Soon we were on our way to Patungan Beach Resort in Maragondon, still part of Cavite.

In getting there through Public Transportation:

Take a bus ride going to Ternate town through Saulog Bus in Coastal Mall along NAIA Road. Then board a tricycle, maximum of 3 passengers, and tell the driver to drop you to the tunnel (P75/head). Since there’s no public transportation here, tell the driver to wait for you and head back to the terminal (fare-P75 to P100/head).
