Summer getaway at Laiya Coco Grove, San Juan, Batangas

Considering the distance and its charm, we chose Laiya Coco Grove Resort in Laiya, Batangas for the Finance Team outing this year. A lovely sunny day and glistening waters are what we need after a busy month of filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs). It’s time now to rejuvenate our bodies and freshen up our minds from tons of paper works. And so, off we go for another fulfilling summer getaway!

The Resort

When we arrived in Laiya Coco Grove we were cordially welcomed by staff by serving free welcome drinks that initially quenched our thirst. When everything was settled, we put all our bags into the trolley and were guided by staff to our rooms.

I was overwhelmed to see the huge property of the resort. What caught first my fancy was the Tree House which I guess the most attractive part of Coco Grove. There were the lovely cabanas near the beachfront, the trees, the mountain view, and the serene water of the beach that glistened in the afternoon sunlight.

Other amenities are the children’s playground, the trampoline, and the swimming pool. Later I enjoyed exploring the resort and was delighted to see the native air-conditioned rooms, cabin, and poolside cottages.

Quadruplex Room

Since we are a large group, we chose the Quadruplex Room. Each room can accommodate six people. It has a shower and comfort room, a lavatory, cabinet, and a porch. Each guest is provided a set of towels, toiletries, a bottle of mineral water, an electric kettle with coffee, sugar, and creamer.

The Quadruplex Room where we slept comfortably for the night

We took a rest in our rooms and after an hour, we set out to enjoy our vacation. We all went to the Sampaloc Terrace standing along the shoreline. It was so relaxing to sit on the porch while looking at the whole stretch of Laiya. We were given a halo halo and after munching this sweet treat, we went for a walk on the sandy shore. We stayed there until the sunset.

Dinner Time

The dining area, bar, and convenience store are located at the Main Pavillion. Our dinner was a buffet with three sets of viands, two flavors of juices, and dessert. The food was tasty and we had a heavy tummy when we left the dining area.

The girls headed to the Sampaloc Terrace for videoke singing while the boys immersed their bodies into the swimming pool.

Morning came

I had a good night’s sleep and awoke early to catch the sunrise. But to my dismay, it was a downcast morning. Since there was no sunrise for photo delight I went back to sleep.

a happy smile, happy tummies

Our breakfast was a typical Filipino meal. Since we will now swim after we eat, I wanted my tummy to be filled to the brim. Hahaha!  Of course, this meal will not be complete without sipping a hot coffee and a hot soup. Woooohhhh!  Definitely, the food was not bad on its own.

The beach

The resort had two beaches, the Main Resort and the White Beach Extension. The Main Resort is not suitable for swimming at the time of our stay so we opted to swim at White Beach Extension. We were fetched by a shuttle service in getting there and in five minutes we were greeted by the clean and clear water of Laiya. But for those who want to stroll around may take the twenty-minute walk in getting to the resort.

Time now to swim! Yahoo!!!

the serene beach area where I love to hang around…

This is what I love in San Juan. Beaches are clean compared to the other part of Batangas. We stayed for almost three hours at the beach and later at the swimming pool. We only spent an hour here as we were already famished. Swimming is fun but it is tiring.

Lunch is our last hurray for the day. And again, the food was good and tasty. I had a happy full tummy when we left the dining area.

The rate

It may be too pricey if you stay in the resort as you have to pay around P2,000 to P4,000 per head depending on your preferred room. But you will not worry about bringing food as a full board meal (dinner, breakfast, and dinner) is included in the rate. You may eat and eat until you can no longer breathe.

The service was good and fast. Swimming on the beach and in the pool will definitely refresh you. You may jump on the trampoline or enjoy a morning walk along the shore.

Sometimes we have to abandon all our worries and stress to the delights and advantages which beckon from soaking in clear water, seeing wondrous sights, and cuddling early morning breeze.
