Fun and laughter at Star City

My daughter was so excited when we allowed her to join their field trip this year because of Star City. We haven’t spent previous holidays in this theme park for quite some time that’s why our little girl misses the rides and attractions there. This is my last year to accompany Shen in this activity because she will be in her sixth grade this coming school year. I will be missing our happy times together. And since this is my last, I will make sure, this day will be full of fun and enjoyment.

Star City was established in 1991 in a reclaimed area of the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Pasay City. This is the oldest theme park in the Philippines giving fun, excitement, and entertainment for 26 years now.

Star City is the last and the most anticipated part of the field trip. We visited Gardenia in Laguna, Imax at SM MOA, and Fort Santiago in Manila.

When we were given the ride-all-you-can pass, Shen and her classmates ran happily inside until they reached the first ride. I told my daughter to wait for me for I will go to the comfort room for bio breaks. But when I came back she was already sitting excitedly in the Viking with her classmates.

VIKING

I felt a bit nervous because it was her first time to try an extreme ride. When the ship-like vessel moved faster and higher and higher the kids looked terrified. Some bowed down their heads while closing their eyes and others kept on shouting. Shen was shouting so loud! I was relieved!

When the swing ended Shen approached me half smiling. She told me she got scared at first but enjoyed the experience. It’s good that she braved riding Viking. I haven’t tried this ride yet. Maybe if I’m still young like my daughter I can do it too. Hahaha!

GABI NG LAGIM

When I was a teen, I love to go inside horror houses with my siblings as it was exciting to see zombies, witches, and other horrifying sights that made us run as fast as we can. When we got inside Gabi ng Lagim, Shen and her classmates were cramming against each other. They were so terrified of seeing moving dark creatures. Well, for me Gabi ng Lagim in Big Bang Alabang was much scarier than this. Imagine, we were being followed by a headless priest! I can’t help laughing seeing these children running fast into the exit.

BLIZZARD

This is my favorite ride though my ears always hit the headlock as we roll down fast. Shen got scared at first but enjoyed the roller coaster experience in the Antarctic.

BUMPER CAR RAVE

Adults and kids love this ride as it was exciting to drive an electrically powered car and bumping one another.

WACKY WORM

When my children were still small, they both love to ride in the kiddie Wacky Worm and Dragon Express as it was fun and exciting. Shen is now a big girl but we miss the child delight so we boarded these cute roller coasters and shout out loud. Haha!

SNOW WORLD

Snow World let us experience winter in the Philippines. Jackets are provided to guests. But this attraction requires a separate fee. Since we are under a group rate we were discounted, from P150 to P90.00. It was freezing inside. The happiest thing we did was sliding down the snow slide and playing in the snow.

Cameras are not allowed inside. They have their own picture-taking with the corresponding fee. One picture costs P100.00. We can’t bear to stay long for it was so cold.

Moving on we passed by the arcade games. I missed winning in those games which I brought home different stuffed toys.

Later we had our dinner in the food court. They had an array of food stall with different kinds of food. We ordered rice and pork but I was a bit disappointed because the pork wasn’t tenderized.

After the not-so-satisfying meal, we head off to the next attraction.

PIRATE ADVENTURE

The Pirate Adventure had a long queue so we waited for several minutes before we ride on the boat and experience the adventure of the Pirates in life-sized moving statues. Before it was Lion King. I missed Sumba, the other characters, and its story as well.

Aside from the rides and attractions, there are arcade games and bazaars to shop in.

STAR CITY ANNEX

Star City got bigger and better as it has the Annex which houses its newest attractions: Star Frisbee, Tornado, Music Express, Classic Carousel, Quack Quack, Frosty Train, and Kiddie Wheel.

There were more rides and attractions that we were not able to ride as we have no time to do it anymore. Instead, we bought some goodies on bazaars and head off to our bus at 8:00 pm.

Star City may lack the grandeur, the like of Disneyland or Universal Studios but certainly, everyone will enjoy and have fun in the oldest theme park in the country.

While on the bus on our way home, Shen and her classmates were so happy swapping stories about their wonderful experiences in Star City.
